12/5/08 - Fremont First Friday Art Walk

This month we have two artists to showcase!

Lisa Lemire - Mixed media using paper, metal, glass, gemstones... it's more than an image, it mirrors moods of mystery & peace... These are larger, glass framed pieces that would command a wall all to itself. (Secret: Did you ever wonder what I did for a creative outlet before this jewelry store? This is it - well one of my outlets at least... Yep, this is my maiden/artist name!)

Laura Bowker - We're having a trunk show! Her handcrafted art glass beads that she used the Battuto technique on, a form of glass engraving... These beads are big & simply beautiful! She traveled all the way to Italy to learn this technique & she's good at it! You could wear just one of her beads on a cord & that would beautifully say it all. To see more of her work, go to www.lbglass.net.

We are going to have an awesome party! Come for wine, yummy hors d'oeuvres, beautiful jewelry & good times, Friday, December 5th from 6-9. Christmas shopping opportunity!

Mary Gibbs - Opening Reception, Friday - November 7th, 6-9PM

I was enjoying a beautiful day at the Edmonds Arts Festival in June & I came across Mary Gibbs who had a booth there. I LOVED her paintings! They are uniquely realistic watercolors of domestic cats, foliage & landscapes. What really drew me in, is this picture here called "Cozy Afternoon". I exclaimed "That looks like my cat!" She said this piece is her best seller & a lot of people say that! ALL her paintings are beautiful & she's a self taught artist. Along with a variety of paintings, we'll also have prints, notecards and coasters. To see more of her art go to www.marygibbswatercolor.com.

I hope you'll join us for her reception where you can meet Mary, enjoy some fine Hors D'Oeuvres & wine & while you're at it, have your jewelry inspected, polished & cleaned while you check out the beautiful, local artist jewelry we have in stock.

I just gotta' mention this one!

A customer comes in, gives me a "stick" drawing of a ring & says "I want an octopus here & a sea turtle there" (he was indicating on the side of the ring where only she would see the characters). So after some research & some heavy thought, I drew up what he wanted, but I went further than that. I thought we should express this idea fully & let it all hang out! When I called them in to take a look at my drawings I first showed him what he originally wanted. "That's exactly what I wanted!" but I said "But wait, I just gotta show you this..." I got "Oh yah, that's totally it!" Sweet! Everybody on my team was real excited about this one because it was so different. I have the most awesome wax carver, caster & jeweler ever! They all did an Excellent job! The ring is made of 18k white gold & really nice diamonds. When we make his ring, it'll be like her wedding ring with the sea weed & diamonds, only wider.

3/26/08 Seattle Weekly Ad

Here's a sweet 18k white gold ring I made for a customer who said "She's totally into cats"... It was a little tough coming up with a cat design that wouldn't end up looking cheesy. The eyes & tails alternate in direction. Two sets of the eyes are Emeralds & the opposite sets are Tsavorite Garnets - their birthstones. This is such a cool ring & he was really happy with it!

4/9/08 Update: I just got an e-mail from my customer that I made the ring for...

"I just wanted to let you know that I proposed to Cassie this weekend... and she said YES! She loves the ring--says it is the most beautiful and wonderful ring she has ever seen!--and also she can't wait to meet you. Thanks so much for working with me and making such a great ring!"

Go here to read about their beautiful proposal!

Congratulations David & Cassie! May your lives be filled with love, friendship, happiness and laughter!

Welcome to my brand new blog!

Look what I got for Christmas! This is the coolest necklace ever! Total Pirate Booty! ;-)
